Join us in-person as we welcome Dr. Chika Oriuwa and Ava Onwudegwu, who will share their inspirational journeys with us. Together, we embark on a path of empowerment, learning, and collaboration, blazing trails towards success in the healthcare industry. #PowerOfMentorship #RISETRAILBLAZERS #WeSeeYou

We are thrilled to extend an invitation to you for an upcoming event that promises to be both inspiring and enjoyable. On April 27, 2024, we will be celebrating the culmination of our 2nd cohort for our program, and we’re excited to share details about the mentorship program for our next cohort in the fall. Join us at 1:00 pm EDT at the CPA Lounge at Ted Rogers School of Management.

We are excited to announce that the upcoming event, sponsored by the Diversity Institute and Future Skills Centre, promises to be an enriching experience for all attendees. This gathering presents a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow members, network with industry professionals, leaders, and celebrate the achievements of our participants.

Please join us as we elevate our community, forge meaningful connections, and celebrate the success of our members. Your presence will undoubtedly add to the warmth and joy of the occasion.

This event will have a fireside chat with Ava Onwudegwu, the VP and Director of Academic Relations at Canadian Black Nurses Alliance (CBNA); Interim Director of Critical Care, Respiratory Services & Trauma at Lakeridge Health who is a transformative, servant leader who is known for her people first, empowerment focused approach. For Ava, leadership is much more than a title, it’s a way of being that is forged by purpose. Her foundation in academia has grounded her journey in a philosophy of seeing each moment as an opportunity to learn and grow. Hence, there is a strong desire to empower and build another generation of leaders who will forge the way for the next generations to come. We must all leave a legacy!

Dr. Chika Oriuwa is our keynote speaker and she is a Canadian physician, spoken word artist, and advocate against systemic racism in health care. In 2021, she was one of six frontline workers honored by the Barbie Role Model Program with a doll created in her likeness. In 2020, Oriuwa was the first black woman to become the sole valedictorian at the University of Toronto Faculty of Toronto of Medicine. Come expecting to be inspired by these transformational leaders within healthcare.
