Black Voices in Nursing – Untapped: Focusing on Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs)

Join the Bloomberg Nursing community and the Canadian Black Nurses Alliance for a panel discussion on internationally educated nurses and their transition into the fabric of the Canadian health care system.

Featuring Canada’s Chief Nursing Officer Leigh Chapman, Dr. Ruth Lee, president of CARE, The Centre for Internationally Educated Nurses, and Dr. Yetunde Tola, a postdoctoral IEN.

About the Panel:

The aim of this panel discussion is to bring awareness  to Internationally Educated Nurses (IEN) transition into the fabric of the Canadian Healthcare System, and to better understand the untapped resources that these nurses bring to Canada’s healthcare. The discussion will engage the CNO to better understand where we are at as a nation and the direction we will be taking to untap the assets of these nurses. We will also elicit the insight and experience of an IEN in shedding light to the challenges faced by this group and recommendations as we move forward. The president of the CARE Centre for IENs will share resources that are available for these nurses to transition and integrate into the healthcare system.
