During Black History Month, we are taking time to highlight the Black nursing students within our faculty whose leadership, dedication and commitment to compassionate care are shaping the future of nursing.
While this month offers an important opportunity for reflection and recognition, our commitment to equity, representation and belonging extends far beyond it. In partnership with the Canadian Black Nurses Alliance, we are honoured to share these students’ stories, recognizing not only their achievements, but the perspectives and strengths they bring to our learning and practice environments every day. Their contributions enrich our faculty and help build a stronger, more inclusive profession for all.

Black History Month offers a meaningful moment to honour the legacy of resilience, leadership and excellence within Black communities. It is also a time to celebrate the individuals who continue to shape the future through courage, compassion and purpose. Within the University of Alberta Faculty of Nursing, Black nursing students are carrying this legacy forward by leading with intention, advocating for equity and helping to reimagine what inclusive, culturally safe health care can look like.
