Ontario’s health care system has a problem. Nurses signing up for agency work instead of working directly in a hospital or care center, and new data reveals that Ontario hospitals are paying millions to private nursing agencies to cope with the staff shortages.

Ovie Onagbeboma is the founder of the Canadian Black Nurses Alliance and talks with Here and Now host Gill Deacon about the magnitude and the consequences of nurses migrating from the public to the private sector, and of widespread burnout on the job.
